    Title Haptic 3D creative modelling
Description A1 Technologies, in conjunction with Anarkik3D (the developers of Cloud9 software), are launching a hardware/software package for designing creative virtual 3D models.

Cloud9 anyone can be creative and easily model and construct 3D objects, especially free-form shapes, which can then be directly 3D printed. For designers and artists, Cloud9 is sketch/modelling software which enables easy and fluid conceptualisation and visualisation of ideas directly in 3D.

Cloud9 uses new touch enabling technology, a 'haptic' device, to replace the 2D mouse. The device is Novint's Falcon which gives more natural interaction within the 3 dimensional virtual space making Cloud9 significantly more intuitive for working in 3D. Moreover it is affordable making the package accessible to anyone and everyone.

    Cloud9's WOW factors:
§ being able to 'touch' and actually feel the 3 dimensional qualities of a virtual object
§ movement in all directions to interact, manipulate and construct objects within a 3D space
§ sense of touching and moving freely, tapping into our natural way of doing things
§ feel where you are, whether inside or outside objects
§ so easy to create organic shapes
§ changing the hardness/softness of virtual objects for different effects
§ straightforward non-complex interface for a more intuitive way to sketch and modelling

    Title 3D scanning and printing
Description A1 presents two related technologies which enable the creating and printing of 3D models. Like all A1's products, these are far and away the lowest cost technologies on the market, and bring cutting edge technologies into the reach of everyone. The 3D scanner is £320, the 3D haptic device is £350 and the 3D printer only £750.

The 3D printer enables the user to scan existing objects, and turn them into virtual 3D CAD models which can then be printed on the RapMan 3D printer.

These technologies enable the teaching of Design & Technology, Art & Design, Engineering and related products - industrial product at a price that enables them to be used in the classroom. Exam results are improved when pupils have access to technologies which enable them to create high quality 3D models.
