Jaz Ampaw-Farr is in high demand as a motivational speaker across the UK, so we’re honoured to have her as a keynote speaker at the 2019 Scottish Learning Festival (SLF).
You’ll be inspired by Jaz’s story of how she transcended a childhood of abuse, poverty and hardship, thanks to encountering five adults whose belief in her literally saved her life.
Jaz will share her passion for the potential we can uncover in ourselves by being braver and saying ‘yes’ to challenges. Today she advises international governments on education policy and speaks to audiences across the UK, proving that barriers to success really can be overcome.
Jaz said: “Nothing will change until your desire for things to be different is bigger and stronger and more powerful than your fear of trying.
“My mind set used to be driven by the defeated question Why me? but when you have authentic, consistent relationships with teachers who have high expectations of you, the ice around your heart melts.
“My teachers transitioned my question into a daring and brave Why not me?.
“Saying yes first and working on the details after requires you to be 10% braver – but it pays off in spades!”
Jaz will make a keynote address on The Power of Everyday Heroes and is delighted to be part of SLF for the first time.
“I feel a close affinity with everyday heroes who stand by their Why? and that’s been my experience in working with Scottish educators,” she said.
